Day 10: In the Moment

Standing with my arms outstretched and my head tilted back, I relish each drop of rain. They kiss my eyelids as gently as a mother would and slide down my cheek until they reach my lips – without the salty taste that tears create. I listen closely to the echoing wind, flags flapping in the distance, and smile at the lack of tires on the pavement.

I open my eyes and relish the sight above. The leaves hold on tight to their homes while a single ray of light streams through the thinning clouds above. As the sun pushes through, the rain subsides and the birds call. I close my eyes once more and let the sun’s rays warm my very being.

The rain will return, and I will welcome it with my arms wide open!

**I am an Artistic Spirit! For most of my life I’ve used the creative arts as a source of spiritual exploration and healing, even though I didn’t always do so consciously. Sometimes I was the instrument creating the art and other times I was on the receiving end. The connection between art and spirituality is so significant in my life that it’s infused into everything I do. I love music, theatre, television drama series (daytime and primetime), and creative writing and find fulfillment in artistic expression of various sorts: singing, acting, and jewelry design. Throughout the next 102 days, I’ll delve into how all of the above strengthens my spirit and has saved my life on more than one occasion.**
