FAMILY…TRAVEL…CONNECTIONS
Create a piece of art (writing, sculpting, painting, music composition, etc.), using the three words above as inspiration.
The hills come alive, not with music
But with familial connections
Who roamed this land before me?
I wonder
Coal in their lungs and in the ancestral genes,
Off to work they went
Dangerous conditions led to abbreviated lives
And the whistle returned the rest underground
Years pass and seasons change
Yet the stories remain untold
Travel I must to the places they lived
To understand the depth of our connection.
