111 Day Artistic Spirit Pledge: Spiritual Growth Through Creative Expression
I am an Artistic Spirit! For most of my life I’ve used the creative arts as a source of spiritual exploration and healing, even though I didn’t always do so consciously. Sometimes I was the instrument creating the art and other times I was on the receiving end. The connection between art and spirituality is so significant in my life that it’s infused into everything I do. I love music, theatre, television drama series (daytime and primetime), and creative writing and find fulfillment in artistic expression of various sorts: singing, acting, and jewelry design. Throughout the next 110 days, I’ll delve into how all of the above strengthens my spirit and has saved my life on more than one occasion.
Day Two: A Writer’s Inspiration

A fresh cut lawn on a spring day adds only beauty to an already inspiring scene. Seated in the gazebo nestled in my college’s garden, I close my eyes and allow my cheeks to be caressed by the gentle breeze. I feel the pencil in my hand and the notebook placed squarely on my lap, and my imagination plays. I envision new characters, settings, and story ideas – and wait until the scene is complete before opening my eyes and refocusing my attention on the blank page that awaits. Inspired by the ambiance surrounding me and the creativity brimming inside, I rejoin pencil and paper. The words flow. The dialogue speaks. The scene builds in conflict and complexity. The moment ends like a FADE TO BLACK, and I return the writing implements to my backpack. I’ll come back again when the clock strikes 2, and time between classes calls me to write.

This drawing and writing is nice. What is your favorite art medium?
Thank you! The image is a photo I took and tweaked to pretty it up. I love all forms of art, but am partial to musical theatre.
Hmm. I have to think about that. I usually write in my room, but by a window, always by a window.
